Moab, Utah - Part 1

On March 30th, we headed north on highway 191 from Bluff to Moab, Utah. The highway isn't the best by any means, but we enjoyed the beauty of the drive... despite the SNOW! This pile of rocks is known as "Cathedral Rock" - does look a bit like one from a distance.

When we got to Moab, we checked into a Passport America Park for four nights - turned out it wasn't near long enough to see the area! The park was on top of a hill and the view from our window was the beautiful snow covered peaks of the La Sal Mountain Range. It was very windy every day; so much so that we actually had to put the slides in a few times.

That first afternoon we headed to Arches National Park and quickly fell in love with the quiet beauty of the landscape. The La Sals were never far from our view.

This stand of rock is called "Park Avenue" because if looks so much like a cityscape...

and these are the "North and South Windows" - spectacles if you look at them this way.

This is "Turret Arch" and a quick walk to it gave me the cool picture above when I turned around. You never have to go far to see an arch in this park as there are over 2000 identified and I am sure a whole lot yet to be named. The arch you see in the background below is named "Delicate Arch", not because it is ready to fall over but because someone thought it looked like a pair of women's bloomers.

As you can tell, the sky was perfect for taking pictures that day, it was changing and clouds were drifting through all the time. Everytime we looked around, there was another picture... Or another angle from which to see another arch...

This was "Skyline Arch", but I think it looks like something attached to a foot...

We stayed until sunset that first night.

And it was a wonderful day!
