Central Oregon

We;ve spent the last couple of days in the Lincoln City area in Central Oregon. Our base is Coyote Rock RV Resort and this place has GREAT style. When we arrived back at the campground after a day of touring today, we were greeted with their new brochures.

Seems the owner liked the look of our rigs with the forest and water in the background and decided to feature them on the brochure this year. Sure glad that both men washed the units yesterday.

Prior to our "welcome home" we checked out several local sites, beginning with one of Oregon's 51 covered bridges. This one was originally built in 1914, has had 8 different names over the years and now serves as a crossing to a private home.

We did manage to see a few whale spouting off this morning. I have just plain given up on trying to get a picture of a spout or a tail. (OK, I haven't given up but you may never see any because it is very hard to photograph!) We then went to Depoe Bay for lunch; clam chowder and a clam sandwich filled the bill.

Our next stop was Oregon's tallest lighthouse. I was the only one who chose to walk up the 93 steps to the top and I have a pin to prove it. Years ago, Mike and I climbed to the top of Florida's tallest lighthouse with Jim and Monica - got a certificate to prove that one - it was 152 steps if I remember right.

This is a picture of the tide pools from the top of the lighthouse.

And these are the steps I climbed.

We finished our day at another covered bridge. This one is still in public use.

Last night, Mike and I went for a drive around sunset so I'll close out "Central Oregon" with a couple of sunset pictures.
