Didgeridoo and A Birthday, Too

Time has gotten away from me; does that ever happen to you? I intended to write this entry last Sunday and I am finally getting to it.... Yikes.

Last weekend we had company - Bonnie and Barry, our Tucson friends, came to camp with us for four days. On Saturday, we went on the "infamous" San Diego Tour and enjoyed a bit of time at Seaport Village. Since it was a weekend day, there were many performers to amuse us. The man playing the Didgeridoo was the best!

This instrument is something that I don't believe I have ever seen before. I learned from this gentleman that the Didgeridoo is a sacred Aboriginal wind instrument shaped originally by termites from a Eucalyptus tree. It is thought to go back forty thousand years! He said he has only been playing for a couple thousand. He said it was originally played in caves so he creates a kind of cave sound with his covered chair and a piece of plexiglass on the ground.

This man has an amazing lung capacity and is capable of making unique sounds and tunes. When someone, especially a lady, put money in his basket, he became really animated.

His feet, complete with velcroed sh0es and lots of bells, kept the beat going.

During the weekend, we celebrated Bonnie's _ _ th birthday. Bonnie looks great in this pic... not sure what is wrong with the dude she hangs out with...

During the time they were here, meals were a highlight. Bonnie made a chicken dish one night, we enjoyed dinner out one night, complete with lots of laughs and Bobbi and I both cooked one night. Now Bobbi's meal is a memorable one; she made Mexican food that was exceptional and actually made deep-fried ice cream, just like at Mexican Village. It was a very impressive dinner!

It may be August before we see these two again so it was sad to say "so long" ~ it was a fun weekend.

During the last week, Mike has been fishing a couple three times and I have been hanging out with him. Yesterday, we took a drive up into the mountains around Julian and stopped at a little casino where I had some good luck.

This weekend, I received news about family and friends that need our prayers as they face difficult emotional and physical issues. I ask for your prayers on their behalf. And I Thank GOD for his many blessings!
