Cousins Weekend (and a sunrise/sunset picture or two)

This is the first time that Sadie's Ladies met at someone's home and I am sure glad it was mine!  This was also the smallest number of cousins that have ever attended... hope there isn't a correlation... Actually us "older cousins" decided it was time to go back to an October weekend since it is tough for moms to get away when school has just started.  So, next year, it will be the first weekend in October and it will be Cheryl's responsibility to plan it - already looking forward to it!

On September 4th, Cheryl, Cathy, Carin and Carol arrived at our home - earlier in the day I had sent Mike packing... just down the road a few miles to our friend Diane and Tud for the weekend.  That night we played cards and caught up.  I have to tell you it was rather nice to just have the 5 - much quieter that's for sure!

The next morning the "Berg Girls" were in charge of breakfast and they prepared a feast!  Homemade cinnamon rolls from Carin's Kitchen were fabulous.  And, of course, we had to have Nerstrand breakfast sausage.  They brought enough for our normal 10 ladies so we ate leftovers for the next two mornings.  Thanks ladies!

It was fun to see these gals, who have known me my whole life, in my kitchen.

On both Friday and Saturday we shopped our way around Ottertail County.  There is one thing we all like to do and that is find bargains; we were in thrift stores, antique shops and lots of tourist places as well as fine retail stores.  We bought shirts and jewelry and things for the house... both theirs and mine.  And since we were in this county of big statues, we stopped at the loon, the turkey and lots of others of which I didn't get pictures.

We thoroughly investigated the turkey - how do you tell if it is a male or female...

These three decided the tree was a good place for beauty shots...

I couldn't be outdone!

Our neighbors, Liz and Steve, were kind enough to invite us on a pontoon ride.  I know that Carol is so going to hate this picture - really not sure what she was talking about.

Lots of cards, lots of laughs, lots of fun.  Sadie's Ladies 2014 goes in the record book.

On to sunrises and sunsets.  I think I love fall and spring the best for sky pictures.  For one thing, I don't have to get up at 4:30 to shoot them...

On a foggy morning, I decided I better get up and see what the pond, down the farmer's road, looked like - I was rewarded.

I do love this school bus picture; I am so happy to have had a great career in teaching and so happy to be retired!

It was a cool morning - see the frost on the windshield of the boat?

We have been out in the boat on several beautiful fall days.  You know I can't resist a reflection and these sure seemed worthy.

I don't think I have ever taken a sunset picture where I got the circular glow like on these - must have been the setting I was using.  I kinda like the look.

And the reverse reflection was just as spectacular that day.  I do love our lake.

On the way in that night, we spotted this fellow, not sure what he is.

So Fall comes to the lake and in just a couple of weeks, it will be time to pack it up and head south - loved the spring and summer here and looking forward to the south.  Life is Good!
