Niagara Falls
The welcome to the state sign shows 2 sights; Niagara Falls and The Statue of Liberty. We hope to see both of these places and more before we leave the area. Today we drove through rain and fog in the Cleveland region and ended up with a beautiful sunny day at Niagara Falls.
The Seneca Niagara Casino parking lot is our home for the next couple of days. This is the view from our front window.
Niagara State Park is the oldest state park in the United States having been established in 1885. When we approached the area, I was amazed at the green and the spacious park that greeted us. This is a truly grand spectacle whether you are looking down at the hazy rocky river or out at the thundering falls,
or downstream. That is the rainbow bridge that goes from the U.S. side to Canada. Today we were only on the American side.
We decided not to put on the blue garbage bags and go for the boatride
but we did take the elevator down to water level
and feel the forceful spray coming from the falls. (Those are waterspots on my camera lens.)
We took a trolley ride to Goat Island. The island was named when an area farmer took his whole herd of goats there when he grew weary of having wolves attack the herd. After a rather brutal winter, only one goat survived and the island was named.

From the island we could see yet another of the three falls.
And this is a view of the Canadian skyline - we will head there tomorrow.
