A Quick Trip to San Diego
Mike and I both had appointments in San Diego on Friday so we decided to head over a day early... take a short vacation to our favorite city.
When we headed out on Thursday, it was absolutely beautiful. Snow had fallen down to 2500 feet while we were having buckets of rain at 400 feet above sea level.
We also saw a fellow protesting at one of the exclusive developments. I think this huge "biggy rat" is a great way to make the point that the pay scale is not what it should be.
As we left town on "Palms to Pines" highway, we climbed to 4000 feet and there was some fabulous scenery. Unfortunately, the weather made it very difficult to stop and gawk so most of these were taken "on the fly".
And just a short 130 miles later, we were having lunch at "The Pier" in Seaport Village. After Calamari and a fish platter, we headed to Mission Beach... might as well hit all our favorites in the few hours we were in town.
After a not very restful night at a "bought on the internet, sight unseen, and cheap" hotel room, we went to Scripps where Mike got a great lung report and I got a much needed shot in my knee. On the way home today, the snow was mostly gone, but highway 74 is still a scenic road.
Part of it is the old stagecoach road.
When we got back to Palm Springs, we took a drive down Paseo Drive... once again, that retro look hit me.
