UP NORTH Minnesota

When you are born, raised, and live in Minnesota, you look forward each year to going UP NORTH. UP NORTH is a state of mine; it is relaxing around trees and lakes and friends, and eating, and touring, and boy, are we UP NORTH!

When we arrived last Sunday, we were welcomed by Bobbi and David and fed a wonderful meal. And then, of course, there was cribbage and planning the days ahead.

On Monday, we attacked the berry patch south of Grand Rapids. I have never seen a currant bush before and we had three different types of currants from which to choose. They were easy to pick and have a wonderful tart taste - four bags are now in the freezer.

Mike loved picking and eating the raspberries.
Each of us couples picked 10 pints of berries for a cost of just $20 and a time investment of only one hour. It was great fun!

On Tuesday, the guys went fishing and Bobbi and I went exploring at a butterfly garden in Longville - we only spotted one butterfly but it was great exercise for us and the dogs.
And I did spot this dragonfly posing for me.

I don't honestly know what we did no Wednesday, but I am sure we weren't bored! On Thursday, we went to Lake Winnibogoshish and spent a great day catching no fish, but having very fine boat lunch! Friday morning, Bobbi and I went for a walk around Boy River ... interesting village...
Yes, both of these buildings are within the village limits.

Yesterday, we headed to Park Rapids for a chain saw festival... only UP NORTH...

Very talented artists!

This tree along the river presented a real photo op...
More on our UP NORTH adventure later.
