From Fault Line to Tsunami Zone

Ahhhh... you gotta love California! Not only is it going broke, but, from all indications, it is either going to break apart or get washed away real soon. So, why is it that we love this area so much...
For the next five weeks, we will be in our favorite city in the world, San Diego. Our campground is neat and clean and positioned by a bike trail and close to the ocean; what more could we ask for. It was, however, a surprize when we drove up the highway and were greeted by this sign.

Especially since we just left the Palm Springs area, where we visited the San Andreas Fault Line. California is certainly interesting!

These pictures were taken when we checked out the Fault Line this year. I know I have bored you with similar pictures in other years, but I do like the area and it is fun to photograph. From the small creatures that dart across the walking path...

To the rather large specimens...

(It is a dying palm tree - what did you think it was?)

To the beautiful Native Palm Oasis in the middle of the desert...

with all of it's reflective qualities,

This is a beautiful spot to spend a few hours. It was fun to introduce the area to Bobbi and David. She is fanning the old boy to keep him cool.

We left The Coachella Valley on Monday and headed farther west. Once we settled in, Mike was anxious to take a drive up to Point Loma. If you haven't been here for a few years, they have made some changes to the old lighthouse; it is suppose to look more authentic now.

Of course, I couldn't resist taking pictures of the San Diego skyline.

Oh, and the agave plants were just starting to bloom and I caught a little bird checking out the new growth.

You will see more and hear more about this warm and sunny southern California area in weeks to come, so prepare yourself... or quite reading... or book a flight - who knows, it may not be here next year!
