The Stations of The Cross
On a hillside in San Luis, Colorado, in the Sangre de Cristo (Blood of Christ) Mountain Range, we discovered bronze sculptures depicting the last days of Jesus. This is the third time we have seen outdoor life-size Stations of The Cross and without a doubt, this artist has created the most moving and memorable. The facial expressions and the attention to detail is what makes the work of Huberto Maestas unique. It is no wonder that his first sculptures depicting the Stations of The Cross are in the Vatican Museum in Rome.
The First Station: Jesus is condemned to death.
The Second Station: Jesus is given his cross. The Fourth Station: Jesus meets His Mother, Mary.
The Sixth Station: Veronica wipes the face of Jesus.
The Eight Station: Jesus meets the women of Jerusalem.
The Ninth Station: Jesus falls the Third Time.
The Tenth Station: Jesus is stripped of his clothes.
The Eleventh Station: Jesus is nailed to the cross. (The Crucificion)
The Twelth Station: Jesus dies on the cross.
The Fourteenth Station: Jesus is placed in the tomb.
The Eight Station: Jesus meets the women of Jerusalem.
The Ninth Station: Jesus falls the Third Time.
The Tenth Station: Jesus is stripped of his clothes.
The Eleventh Station: Jesus is nailed to the cross. (The Crucificion)
The Fourteenth Station: Jesus is placed in the tomb.
The Fifteenth Station: Alleluia! Jesus is Risen! Alleluia! (The Resurrection of Jesus is not always included as a part of the Way of the Cross.)
Thank You for taking the time to share these Stations of The Cross with us. Even if you are not Catholic or have never said "The Stations" during Lent, we hope you can appreciate the sorrow, compassion and the love in these events. Please feel free to share them with others.
