Navajo Lake State Park...

is an absolutely beautiful place to be!  The New Mexico slogan says the state is "Enchanted" and our first day here lived up to that description.  On Thursday morning we moved into our
home site (for three weeks) and it didn't take us long to get the boat in the water.

The shoreline is like nothing we have experienced before.  This particular reservoir is at least 20 feet lower than usual so you see many explosed "trees" that used to be hiding places for big fish... well, that's my story anyway.

Now doesn't this look like a great space for a really big bass to hang out...

These tops of trees will yield a big northern or two I am sure.  Larry arrived last night and I am sure that is where the boys are fishing today.  When I took this picture, we were still in 40 + foot of water.  Depths in the channel ranged from 85 feet to 200.

Although that does not sound like low water, it really does make a difference when you go to launch the boat so we decided to not fight that battle every day and rented a slip instead.

This picture of the shoreline really shows how low the water is this year.  When I first saw this site I thought it was man made steps but it is actually a natural indication of water level made by waves and erosion.

When the boat was safely tucked away into its slip, we sat on our patio and watched the amazing New Mexico sky.  Bright sunlight and rain...

When the rains came our way, we ducked inside for cover but I had to risk getting wet to take this picture - a double rainbow.  It began right outside out door

and ended over at the marina.
